Model 38 no dash value

I have a S&W 38 no dash bodyguard from the 1968-69 era. I am wondering a value on it. Its in great shape for its age. It does have a gold/brass hammer,cylinder release and trigger but factory grips. I assume this would devalue some. Can anyone advise me on a resonable asking price?

I bought a model 38 recently in what I would call VG condition with 4 boxes of ammo for $350, and that seemed reasonable to me. Its an early 80s gun

The trigger and cylinder release should be purchased and installed before your sale - that $40 investment will increase the bottom line by $100.

I haven't got much of a track on the Model 38. Ceertainly not enough to discdern a ternd. I do have enough to show a reasonably reliable average cost. Here it is:

Smith & Wesson 38 Revolver in .38 Special. 1'-7/8 in Bbl. Bluebook of Gun Values (31st Edition) indicates between $300 in 95% condition and $450 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 11 recorded prices for this model gun from $300 to $625 over a period of 0 Yrs 10 Mos ending April 14, 2010. The average price as of that date was $432. No refurbs, no refinishes, fixed sights, all represented as 95% or better, no distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $462.
