Model 39-2 reassembly

Is it me or the 39-2 a pain in the to reassemble. I watched videos on youtube where a guy reassembles and make it look easy. The problem i have is the guide ride lining up with the frame. I hold the spring a hard as i can and let it go bout half way, which is hard as hell. Could it be its a new wolff spring and its to strong?. I've done it before but this is seriously killing my hands. Any help would be appreciated

see if this helps, since I don't understand what your doing may be these pics will help. It should be a simple slide on push the levers down pull the slide back to line up the stop and push it in.

It seems like the guide rod does not sit flush enough and pops up a hair

you can't get the guide rod to hold in the half moon cut on the barrel ?

yes it holds put not as flush as yours

what I'm seeing in your pics is all is good it should just slide on and be done.

it doesn't the guide rod is not sliding in the frame hole. Been trying for hours , so crazy

here's the end of the rod and the guide hole in the frame and it took less than a minute to reassemble . to bad I can't be there to see what your doing. once you get the hang of it your going to look back at this and laugh.

If I understand you problem, you can assemble the slide/ bbl; assembly to the frame, but the guide rod will not go into position. Does the guide rod stick out of the front of the slide when you assemble it as far as you can? If so, grab the end of the rod,it usually will stick out 3/8-1/2 inch, twist it right or left at the same time pull it away from the front of the slide then release it, this procedure will normally reseat the guide rod. I had a nickeled 39-2 that would drive me crazy trying to get the guild rod to stay put while I put the slide on the frame. Never could figure it out and sold the gun because of the problem. I have owned over a hundred smith 2nd and 3rd gen semi-autos and only the 39-2 gave me a problem. Hope you get it figured out.

I'm an Idiot lol

found out the problem was the lever on the side of the frame had to be depressed. I swear I though the was only the two levers on the top back of the frame. I didn't encounter another issue though. I was reloading some 9mm and they cycle perfectly through my Glock 17 and Taurus pt92 but when trying in my 39-2 They won't eject. the oal of these where 1130. So I tried with a different bullet with the oal was shorter and they cycle fine. Does anyone have trouble with longer bullets in their 39-2?
