model 39-2

my local gun shop has a used S&W model 39-2 in nickel finish that looks like it has seen very little use. The nickel is 98 percent , the grips are in great shape with no scratches or cracking. I know that some shops start high on price to have some "haggle" room, and this particular piece is listed at $699. This being a item no longer made and in this condition-how's the price?

High, I believe. I looked at a beauty, nickel, LNIB at $450 in a LGS in NY last OCT. Probably could have had it for 400.

this shop is actually a pawn shop-maybe that's why it's listed so high? I'll stay away from the piece, as I don't think the owner will drop the price down to what it should go for. they are trying to push it as a collectors piece, but are they really that rare?

That's a sweet gun but too much money. Still, if you want it bad enough, go for it. In a couple of years what you paid for it won't matter. To me the 39 is the most comfortable pistol I've ever shot and I'm longing hard for another one!

my blued 39-2 was $300 plus tax.I have seen a nickel one in my area for over $700.they are crazy it had some marks on it and was cloudly.

While the 39 series is getting more expensive to find, $699 will be too high for a while to come. An affordable 39-2 will come along if you are looking.

IMHO - $500 if the finish is really in near new shape.

Within the last couple of years, I have seen asking prices for LNIB nickel 39-2s almost that high. I don't know if they sold.
