model 39 9mm

I have a model 39 not a 39-2 9mm. I am trying to find out when it was built and any rarity of the gun.
Ser#841X. I have the original box and paper work.
Is the gun steel frame or what?

I would say definately before 1960, and not a steel frame, although the steel frames were made in the fifties, they were not sold until the mid sixties, and have five digit serial numbers that fall into three groups of serial numbers......

As I've said before, IMO the most handsome 9mm ever built.

It's close to the s/n range that a run of steel frames were produced. Try sticking a magnet to the frame (careful not to scratch the finish). Also, fairly easy to feel by the weight if you know your 39's well enough.
