Model 39 and 59

Hello this is my first post on this fine forum. I recently bought a Model 39-2 in nickel. What a sweet gun! After 400 rounds of every type of ammo I had on hand the 39 has become my carry gun. I always carried a Glock 19 or a Les Baer 1911, but the 39 makes on nice carry gun. Its light enough, and just feels right. I read lots of info on here about the 39-2 before I bought one. Thank you all for your insight on a great gun. Now I'm looking for a blued version!

Also wanted to ask you all about the model 59. I know its the double stack version of the 39. I know it does not have the arched back strap. What else should I know about the 59?

Very nice 39-2. One of the most ergonomic guns ever made. Everyone is different when it comes to carry guns. Some want short grips, some want short slides but I am definitely one for flat profile. A quality the 39 and 39XX series has in spades.

The only thing you really need to know about the 59 series is that you can shoot more (than with your 39) before you have to reload.

Both the 39 and 59 series will serve you well for a long time. Really the choice comes down to comfort & capacity. I personally find the 39/39-2/439 more comfortable to shoot, but you are limited to a single stack magazine. The 59 series is also comfortable, just not as comfortable for me, but can hold 15+1 if you use a new style magazine.
My advice would be to get a 59 as well and see how you feel about it versus a 39. Both are great shooters, accurate, and tough pistols. Of course a 39 with wood grips looks better then a 59, but that, I guess, is also a matter of opinion.

I agree on the wood grip thing. I am on hte hunt for a nice set of orignal grips as my 39-2 did not come with them. Although the rubber ones feel good when shooting.
