Model 39 base plate and follower question

Saw a model 39 magazine at a gun show last weekend that has me puzzled. Magazine is blue, long base plate, marked 9mm S&W, follower is not the x type steel or the plastic style but more like a 1911 9mm follower and is metal. I have never seen one like this before. Have seen the base plates like that before but very rarely.

OldK22, I wish I had been with you. It is an early type mag for the pre-39.
I have a pre-39 but am missing that correct mag. The factory changed to the X type follower with the 2line long base around Sn. 8000. Mike
