Model 3914

Gonzo, I just got back from the mail box and have the belt scabbard on as I'm typin' this. That's a record for Laramie postal delivery---(the mules have a hard time gettin' over the Summit...) Both are well made & I like they way the #3 holds the gun. Don't know if the extra leather down below is really necessary, but it's not uncomfortable I'll try it---don't know if I'd be able to find anything better. The scabbard is a little more comfy & rides up high enough to conceal fairly well. How does the Rosen check out?

50Meter share a pic of the holster & sights if you can..
$139 is pretty pricey for that set of sights, Gonna see if I can beat that price..
Thanks & Enjoy!!

Hehehe, looks like this thread is totally out of control (in large part due to me), but that's what happens when someone brings up 3913 / 3914s... Anyway, I think it was 586L-Frame who has the sights you're askin' about---they cost a little more because he got 'em from S&W. I have a topic in the Smithing section about all of my Trijicons, I paid about $95 per set. Long & the short of it is, if I had it to do over, I'd just send the slides in to Trijicon to have them do it, as the elevation varies depending on the version of the sight set you get---they don't match the factory specs. and S&W told me they didn't have any different height fronts to make the adjustment---Trijicon did it no charge.

Gonzo, do you have any pictures of the Kramers you can post for Gary? I don't have picture posting capability yet.

Here's mine -- well used, well worn, but still tight and accurate. Diet is Speer 124g Gold Dots.

I'd also like to hear holster suggestions for a good IWB holster.

Congratulations, Bill. You've got one of the even rarer 3914NLs.

As for IWBs, I carry my 3913 in a Crossbreed Supertuck. By far, the most comfortable IWB I've tried.

Thanks Rogue,

This was a pre-owned gun that a friend of mine spotted and liked. Unfortunately his wife wanted him to sell it to recover the cash. I think I only paid $266 for it with no box or papers. I'd never paid any attention to the more squared look of the 3914 dust shield compared to my 3914 and never gave it much thought.

I've been thinking of using it as a DIY bluing project since the blue on the slide is thin. Still debating how to treat the frame. Then I look again an realize that all that mileage is character.

The Supertuck looks interesting. Thanks for the tip on that.

I see a reference to the 3914NL. What does that stand for, and does that explain the two different frame shapes?

Heads up on the Milt Sparks holsters. Brownells now catalogs several different models.

The NLs (either "New Look" or "Non-Lady Smith", depending on who you ask) used the 3900 Series Lady Smith frame, but did not have the Lady Smith etching on the slide. Their frames differ slightly from the traditional 3900 frame in that the portion in front of the trigger guard slopes upwards.

All NLs and Lady Smiths also came with single-sided decocker/safety levers, while the majority of the other 3913s and 3914s had ambidextrous levers.

Sweet, Babalooie! You've convinced me a 3914 should be on my short list - just keep my 3913 company.

Thanks,

Jerry

...and even though they are exactly the same size, because it is black, the 3914 LOOKS smaller and is less noticeable---a great concealment feature.
