Model 40 Centennial Dates??

The Book, S C of S&W, page 212, (The Model 40 Centennial), states the "L" marking started in 1968. Engineering & Production Changes states 1971. What I have is two excellent condition Centennials, L713 and a Pre 40, Flat Latch, High Horn, Four Screw, # 6119. I would like to have as close as possible the Mfg/Shipping dates.

I have data on a few of these guns and I would guess your #6119 is late 1955 to very early 1956. I have very little data on the L prefix guns so I would guess #L713 is 1969 or 1970. Sorry I can't be closer for you!
