Just a little background before I ask my question.
I havent shot in about 20 yrs. I now moved to a state that my 2nd amendment rights are not restricted like it was in my former state of residence.

Ok to my question. I just got me a police trade in S&W model 4006. And Im shooting low & to the left. In a 8 inch group.

What should I do to correct? Sights? What kind of shooting adjustments???
Common 4006 issues???
With my Sigma sw9ve & my Taurus 917c 9mm. My shots is mostly dead on with a 3 inch grouping. Basically I will hit where I aim.

But the 4006. Im having issues. I only shot it twice and put 50 rds down range each time.

.40s&W recoils a bit harder than a 9mm.
Since you shoot your others to Point Of Aim the sights on the 4006
might be off a bit.

To adjust windage , move your rear sight in the direction you want the bullets to go.

the low shots might just mean you need to get used to the new gun
.

It's probably not the gun that's at fault here. Watch your sight alignment and trigger control, and keep that flinch at bay. Your shooting will improve with practice.

I dont think the recoil is the issue. My sigma actually has a greater recoil it being alot lighter. Ive had my Sigma for about a year and the Taurus for about 6 months. I try to get to the range at least once a month. Prior to me getting my Sigma I havent shot in 20 years.
I think I may need more time woth the 4006 and may be some adjistments to the sights.
Thanks guys for the tips. I really appreciate ya'

You will only know if you shoot it off a rest or have someone else shoot it.

I had a similar issue but largely solved it, and it was in my trigger pull on a new gun. I thought the sights were off at first. I primarily shoot 5906's in 9mm, and about a year ago bout a really sweet 4014 that was LNIB. I was shooting low and to the left about 4 inches.

I determined after some study that it was most likely due to the single stack compact frame and the way I was pulling the trigger. After working on this, and getting a consistent trigger pull straight back, I have been dead on every time.

Yep, I have a 6906 9mm that is new to me finally got it to the range and I found me shooting low and to the right (looking at the target that is)
I'm a 1911 colt shooter. My choice for the past 20 years was a colt officer's model Series 80 MK IV .45.. It has some recoil that I'm use too.. SO I knew the Smith 6906 I started shooting was me or the gun.. It was also a police trade in gun but looked like new inside and out.. After 100 rounds of low and to the right in a 3" group I let someone else shoot it that was down the range. He did much better with the 24 rounds he shot. I pulled out my .45 and all shots were dead on.. I found the trigger to be quite different on the Smith and found myself really mashing the trigger to the rear after my last shot..That's how I found my issue. I think this is my issue and will have to get down there again with a gun rest and squeeze off a few shots to see for sure.. I have no issues with flinching.. I am going to try getting use to her and learn some control of my trigger pull technique. I hope this helps somhow! George

Nope. Your sights are not the issue.

Guns, in my experience, are NOT interchangeable. Indeed while most semi-autos handle broadly similar their grip designs, recoil characteristics, and general handling equate to a distinct shooting experience even when the models are in the same series. I can shoot a 5906 vastly better than I could fire a 4506 version of the same weapon series.

Only way to get good at shooting a 4006 is to dry fire it and take it to the range.
