I wanted to share my new (to me) M41. I just bought this from an acquaintance and I couldn't be happier. I've always wanted a 41 and couldn't pass this one up. It'a an A539XXX serial number which puts it at late 1978 to early 1979. This is what I got with it: 5 1/2" barrel, 7" barrel, 6 magazines, 2 UltraDot red dot sights, standard target grips, adjustable wood target grips, Gun Ho bullseye pistol box, Argus spotting scope with mounting bracket.

Took it to the range and sighted in the red dots. 25 yds, off a rest, 40 gr MiniMags. First group of 3 shots were 1 inch low, 2 inches left with the 5 1/2" barrel. Made the adjustment and shot the next 7 in the X ring. Same results with the 7". The gun was sent back to Smith a couple of years ago for a trigger job (2 1/2 lbs) and some new springs and checkup. It looks almost new. I've included some pics.

OMG!!!!

Let me be the first, there will be many more, to caution that the 41 is a tight tolerance quality target pistol. Please feed it proper ammunition. It wants to eat standard velocity target ammo not hyper velocity stuff. Most shoot CCI standard velocity; me I shoot SK Std + in mine.

Feed it properly and it won't likely ever need to go back to the mother ship for springs and things. Mine is about a year newer than yours and it will never see high velocity ammo while I own it.
Enjoy the 41. You may grow to love it. bob

Thanks Bob....The previous owner never used anything but CCI SV. He told me the same thing. I didn't have any on hand,so that's why I used the MiniMags. He was an outstanding bullseye shooter and won many matches with this Gun,, including Camp Perry. The only reason he sold it is that he's 91 and going blind. He sold off most of his big collection of guns. I know how well he treats all his firearms which is evident with the condition of this one.

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on a fine purchase.
SV only is a good recommendation. minimags are on the hot end of the scale and not recommended.

Welcome to the Forum TK and also the ownership of a really nice looking M41 as well. The other posters are correct in that just use some CCI SV ammo in that gun and it will live with you for many years. Its one of the finest pistols ever made by anyone anywhere as well.Sounds like your entire kit is 1st class. Enjoy for many years.

Tom,

What an excellent start to your Model 41 collection! I did mean "start" because these pistols are addictive - just ask Aussie Collector. Not only did you get an outstanding pistol and accessories, but you have the full history to go with it.

Another admonition to use standard velocity ammunition.
