Model 41 advice

I have a chance to buy a S&W Model 41 with a 7 3/8" barrel with muzzle brake, cocking indicator, original wood grips, serial number A167xxx. Original box, no papers. Price is firm at $500. The problem is, there was an area of surface rust on the right side of the barrel. It is about 4" long by 1/2". The person removed the rust so that it left tiny spots of bare metal and very light pitting. It is an unsightly area and I am not sure what to do about it. I want the gun, but is the price too high for a 41 that has to be refinished? Is the S&W factory the best place to send it? Or, should I use cold bluing? I know the collector value is gone, but this is a nice shooter otherwise. The rest of the gun is really nice. What are your thoughts or suggestions? Skip48

Buy that thing as fast as you can for $500! It won't take much to get the finish touched up or the entire barrel reblued; and it may not be original but man that's a steal for a Model 41.

And if you're not interested, PM me and tell me where it's at and I'm heading right over there with cash in hand!

Heck, at that price you can buy another barrel and still have the original one to modify later - like having it cut down to 5".

Or you could have vent rib added to the top lightening it a bit AND reblued for $95. Head over to the Smith and Wesson section on Rimfire Central and contact Eric (EWK_Stuff) and he'll get you all setup.

Plus he's going to be building his own barrels soon too; and of course there's always stock Smith and Wesson barrels (IF they ever come back in stock); Midway is still selling the 5.5" w/ sights for the older price but pre-order while you can (they should come back in stock mid to late March last we heard).

Buy that 41 and enjoy!
