Model 41 ammo recommendation

Something to keep in mind with rimfire ammo...after the last two ammo panic buys some manufacturers let quality control slip (no matter what they say otherwise) to pump out product. There have been many more instances of rimfire QC issues than centerfire...but some there as well.

It depends on when any particular ammo was made...during the shortages is when QC slipped...and the boxes don't tell you when the product was made...it's lot number identifications for the maker.

It's kind of a double-edged sword...the older rimfire ammunition might degrade with age and have problems...newer made during the panic buying might have misfires...you pays yer money and takes yer chances.

I would stay away from the lesser...budget lines regardless of maker...the Remington Thunderbolts...The Federal Lightning...the Winchester Wildcats...they'll certainly go bang but are generally dirtier shooting. Some people don't like Aquila but I've never had any issues with it. But CCI standard velocity is a great standard to use as many said.

Will they?

I have seen some budget bulk 22 ammo that had 2 or 3 misfires per 50 round box. That kind of misfire rate is unusually high, even with budget ammo, but can happen.

I have put over 10k rounds of CCI SV in mine and it is very reliable. With this ammo at 25 yards it is easily a X ring gun. Since I shoot mine offhand I will not gain much if anything with more expensive ammo.

A lot of people will say shoot only standard velocity ammo in a 41 but the owners manual just says 22 long rifle so Smith and Wesson , the maker does not mandate that. I shoot a little of everything through my two including standard velocity when I can find it.i do run buffers in mine and one of mine functions best with high velocity. (Which is normal velocity in this day and time
