I recently purchased a Model 41, 7 3/8 in. barrel serial # 41xxx that has counterweights. Could someone explain to me how to install & adjust them?

Note the grooves under the bbl body where the body narrows. Note the vertical index mark above the groove on the left side of the bbl.
The three piece weight - top piece (short section up)- has a hole from front to back and rails (very narrow and V shaped) at the top on either side The weight slips over the bbl with the rails in the bbl slots (long section to rear of bbl). When positioned as desired (using index mark on bbl and index marks on weight), tighten two hex bolts (on left side).
The two smaller weights below can be positioned as desired or removed (one or both). Generally, the two bottom pieces are curved to match the trigger guard. The two bottom pieces are controlled thru the accesses in the bottom (either two or four hole accesses).
The weights are generally all steel with an aluminum upper alternative. The three piece all aluminum sets are very rare.

Yes- that is the purpose of the index marks - repeatability. The weights are generally not used for Bullseye shooting - primarily for International with 5 shots - five seconds - 5 targets. Minimum recoil effect - fast recovery - and short time cycle where the weight is not a critical problem. In a bullseye competition, the added weight would be a minus.
Suggestion: The brake on your 41 7 3/8" bbl is better set aside and saved. It may look kool, but cruds up quickly and has a fair amount of value in exc condition. There is a false muzzle cap to replace it and protect the bbl tip.

I did that in 1969 - and danged if I can find that muzzle brake now.
