Model 41 Engraved Target Grips

Looking to get more info on a set of engraved target grips I inherited. I know they are for a 41 due to the other extra parts and manuals that were with them in the same bundle. A local dealer was willing to trade straight up grips for a pistol I was looking at. He was really fast to offer, too fast.
Anyone have any info? Did any 41's come with engraved target grips, special editions or something?

They have some fancy carving. Is there any identifiable markings on the inside of them?

SWAG - the 41 folder is very early copy. based on that, and designs, would guess grips from Philippines possibly made for military person that had the pistol over there - probably mid 50s to early 60s. Probably a one-of-a-kind.

Welcome to the forum.
I have seen a few sets very similar if not the same in shape, but with different checkering and patterning. Possibly Sanderson?
Please post a few more pictures showing the back this will tell us for sure they are for a model 41. Other angles and any marks that might look like initials numbers or letter.

Tom Beckwith, whom I've learned is very knowledgeable about 41's, has nailed it. These are aftermarket grips, and beautifully done. If you don't want them, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands.

Wild! I like the grips that came with my PC Model 41. I think grips like those posted would probably to the job, providing they fit one's hand/s precisely.

Just now seeing this...I think you may be right...there was a lot of that in the far east...heard stories from instructors/drill sergeants while I was in Basic and AIT in mid - 1971 about how the locals would make just about anything you wanted, from both discarded brass art'y & main gun casings and Coke/Pepsi cans to local stone/wood...looks like some of the pictures I've seen of locally made Barong and other bladed weapon grips.

These are beautiful grips and would look awesome on an engraved model 41! Very nice!

There was a competitor name Bob Ross who shot a M41, loaded single shot, for international Free Pistol matches back in late 50s. He had a set of grips made by Steve Herrett, back when he would personally make grips.
I can tell you a couple things. First, the mounting hardware for the adjustable palm shelf is identical to what Hämmerli used from 1948 until the early 70s. Second, the Oak leaf style carving is also very close to what Hämmerli did on special order.

Carved M-41 Grips

Does anyone else think the wood may be Rosewood? The last posted photograph made the grain a little more visible and looked like Rosewood. Of course this is just above a "WAG" but thought food anyway.

I sold a very similar yet different looking pair of grips like that a few months back. I believed them to be Herrett's but could have also been another older/more obscure maker, I never really nailed it down. Here are the pictures I took prior to selling them, you can see the similarities in overall shape and palm shelf hardware.

Just following up on my previous post. More on the Hämmerli connection.
They are very close to my Hämmerli Olympia grips, at least in style.
