With the rusted lug nut safety on the Model 41 so difficult to use, why hasn't anyone come up with an improved aftermarket model?? 1911s and others have many to choose from.

Even Bob Loveless couldn't figure that out.
His field gun conversions of M41 actually had the safety reduced even more and were meant for Condition 3 carry.

I have to agree with Engineer1911. I am sure something could be done but it works fine the way it is. So the old saying applies " If it's not broke, don't fix it ".

I have two M41s both mid 60s build, I think that I have used the safeties once? in the 50 odd years that I have owned and shot the pistols.

I have a Pardini Target Pistol, it too has a worthless safety, the importer says that it is only added to the pistol for the US market.

Action open, flag in the chamber, magazine out; Pistol as safe as it gets.

Here in Canada we do not generally carry very many handguns in the field. Mine are are a 1958-m41 and a 1963-m46 year model and they work just fine the once a year I require them. Keep forgetting that they are even there 99% of the time.
