Model 41 magazine issue

I recently purchased two older 41 magazines, they have the metal follower and the push button release on the bottom. I can't insert these magazines when in slide lock, the slide must be forward in order for them to seat properly. They stick out about 1/2" and can't be pushed in further. Visually they look identical to the original mags but something isn't right... I welcome your suggestions.

Humm. Perhaps they are held up by the mag release. Try pushing in the mag release button on the pistol and then insert the magazines that won't work . If this works you may have to do a bit of filing to taper the front upper lip of the mags but go slow. Jim

Thanks for the tip, I tried the mag release and that didn't help. I took the barrel off and took a closer look, the mag is stopped by the slide release nub on the inside when the slide is locked back. The mag goes in when the slide is forward. I then thought the mag opening was larger on one vs. the other but they measure the same.

Still looking for a solution.
