Model 411 Question

I have disassembled my 411 and tried to reinstall the slide. I have the slide partially and don't know where to go from here. The slide will not continue further back to the hammer and I can not get it to slide off. I did not get the 2 outside blades pressed down entirely when in stalling the slide. The slide will move about 1/8" both directions but not enough to get the blades to push down and clear the slide.

Is the magazine out?
Is the hammer at rest or cocked?

Yep.
Remove the magazine.
Cock the hammer all the way back

Hammer should be at rest for reassembly, otherwise you can't push down the center (sear release) lever.

Slide

Thanks for the quick response. I have the mag out and the hammer is at rest. The problem I am having is the Firing Pin Safety Lever will not clear the back of the slide. I also cannot get the slide to slide forward enough to clear the lever. The slide freely moves back and forth about 1/4" but will not slide off the frame. If I can get the slide back off I think I can hold all lever downs and reinstall the slide.

Pull hard on the slide forward off the frame.

John, Thank You for the reply. I have tried to remove the slide by pulling forward but there is a mechanic stop keeping it from coming off. No matter how hard I try it will only move 1/4" and them you can feel it hit some kind of stop.

Have you checked to make sure the safety is turned into the OFF position. Sometimes they can get stuck from lack of use and lube also.
