Model 422 6"

I picked this up last week, $425 OTD, gun only but it's like new in condition. Today I had an opportunity to try it out. I am extremely happy with its performance. 50 or so rounds off hand at 7 yards. Remington golden bullet, 40 Gr hollow points. It was 35 degrees and windy so I'm confident that I can do better under more favorable conditions. I did not wear gloves.

Very nice! I doubt I could've gotten those groups as bad as I would have been shaking in those conditions! We were in the 70"s here on the Texas Gulfcoast this morning!

Lol, it really was just a coincidence. I wanted to get a quick picture before getting the gun dirty. That box belongs to this Recon 45.

I figured it was wholly unintentional but I will typically take any opportunity to steer the conversation towards S&W Performance Center semiautomatic pistols.

As for the 422, it has long been my opinion that S&W pooped the bed bigtime when they ended the 422/622/2206 and 2213/2214 series.

No entry level rimfire model they have introduced since the demise of this series could carry its jock in a wheelbarrow. The 22A, the Victory, any of the tupperware guns, they are all inferior handguns.

Several years ago, I purchased a still new in box 622. I never got around to shooting it, before moving to Connecticut. It sits in my safe, at my Washington state home unfired. I unfortunately, never photographed it, otherwise I would share. This 422 is my first experience with the series, and I now regret not trying out the 622. I now want to find one of the short barrels and a 22 suppressor for the fun of it.

As I am sure that you and many are well aware, this entire series of guns and especially the 2213/2214 design were somehow ahead of their time and seem to be almost purpose built for suppressors.

The low barrel design and the barrel nut are the reason and it’s also the reason for their resurgence in the market. Especially the 2213/2214 which tend to be quite sought after these days.
