Model 43c w/ unusual marking

Just looked at a new 43c with a B marked under the top strap. I can't recall ever seeing any new S&W with a marking like that.

Any ideas?

Means California approved. I have 2 with that on it and had to look into it. I got help on Facebook group knowing what it means.

Ours, bought 6 months ago in an Idaho gun shop, also has a B.
