Model 45-2 M&P help

Ok I am normally a 95% plus buyer when it comes to purchasing Smiths. I know a man selling a couple of Smiths and one of them happens to be a 45-2 in about 80% condition. That being said I have never seen one of these personally so I feel like I should buy. I need to know what market value would be for said rare animal in this condition no box and should I purchase in that condition?

I've never seen anyone else refer to any M45 variant with a dash. Doesn't mean that there are none, but I am sure curious.

The Catalog says there was a M45-2 in 1966. "Unknown quantity mfd. C-800xxx range".
So apparently there are some. Any possibility we could see a picture?

Sorry my mistake not a 45-2. I made that assumption. It is actually serial # C622XXX serial number which makes it earlier. No way for me to get pics now. Any thoughts?

One of these NIB would go somewhere in the $15-1800 range. If this one is really an 80% gun it would be less than this, but there are few sales (i.e., used model 45s) from which to base a value estimate. $1000?

You are correct. It is hard to find examples that are less than new in the box to base an offer on. Most are in the $1800 range with a few extreme examples. I think it would be neat to have because of its rarity. Would definitely like to hear more of your thoughts?

Last couple I saw on Gunbroker were $2800 range 98%+ in the box. Don't know if they sold, but there were a few examples for sale.
