The Model 457 arrived today, with three magazines. It is in very good shape. This may be part of the 1997 run for Zanders Sporting Goods but not sure. This one appears double-strike capable. I recall reading that some are not. Is this right? Look forward to putting this into the carry rotation. It appears that a Kydex AIWB holster molded this this pistol's square barrel will accommodate the 4553, 4516, etc., but not the other way around.

Here it is with a 4553.

Beautiful 457 my friend! Congrats! :)

All, DA/SA 457s have second strike capability. SOME of the 457D, DAO pistols, do have second strike as well, but the majority of the 457D production, do not.

Enjoy that fine looking 457! Best regards, 18DAI

Best of the value series! Had one when they first came out and used to run 200 grain CorBon "ashtrays" through it when they were less then 15 bucks a box of 20. only down side is your Beagles could lick the blueing off of the slide.....very thin.

Great snag I was watching that one also. It surely looks like a Zanders special in very good condition!:D

Cool....I was watching that one but had others I needed more....I used to have one identical but sold it! Now I’m wanting another one! Congratulations!

Cheers!!!

The Don Hume JIT belt slide #33 holster was listed for the S&W 457 & 4516-1, IIRC.

Colby, thanks. I know that most of the leather holsters will fit 475, 4553, 4516, etc. My concern, and the subject of another thread, was whether a 457 and 4553 would fit in the same Kydex AIWB holster. The 457 has a more "square" slide profile. Kydex is typically form fit to the gun with little flex.

Aaaah, thanks for the info and setting me straight. I must have misread some of the 457 posts about second-strike capability and reference to the 457 DAO. On that note, would really like to find a Chicago PD 457 in DAO.

My 457 is exactly like yours (except serial number). Two-tone, 3 magazines. Perfect .45 ACP for carry.

Yup , that's a Zanders , I have 2 . The black finish doesn't last , that's the only down side . My one was a shooter , so I sent it off to guzzitaco who made it into my BBQ gun . My other is nib along with my 457S . There are those of us that appreciate the 457 .

The black oxide finish on the 3rd gen carbon steel slides was a poor finish, to say the least. They respond quite well to a proper refinishing. Guzzitaco has done a few.

Here’s my pair, very similar!

Just curious could somebody provide name address and what information S & W needs to obtain a letter from Jinks ? If there is a cost for this please let me know. I think having a letter like that to go with my
4516-1 would be terrific. Thanks Doc
