S&W Model457

Hi, Jimmy!

Did it come DAO from the factory with the round plug in the slide where the safety would be?

John

Good Morning, John:
My Model 457 has a spurless hammer, but the hammer can be "cocked" for the first shot. I am thinking (sometimes) that if a hammer with a spur was added I would have what I want ??
The pistol is two tone with a bright frame and blued slide. SN VCD76--.

Thank you ,
Jimmy

Hi, Jimmy!

If the spurless hammer on your 457 can be cocked for the first shot and you have a manual safety on the slide, then your pistol is already DA/SA(Double action/Single action) or what S&W calls TDA(Traditional Double Action) and not DAO(Double Action Only).

Yes, you can substitute a spurred hammer for ease of thumb cocking without making any other changes.

Hope this helps!
