Model 48 spring kit reliability

Being a rimfire, I'd like to know if anyone has experience with a spring kit in a Model 48, or really any of the 22 Smiths. This one was given to my by my father and has always had a pretty heavy trigger. I don't need it competition light, just reasonably lighter than it is now.

Try changing the rebound spring. The mainspring is the same for all of the K frames, IIRC.

I used to own a M34-1, a J frame with the coil mainspring. No matter what I tried, I never was able to get 100% ignition in double action.

As suggested, I also tend to just swap the rebound spring. Factory is 18lb. I usually go with 14lb with an otherwise factory setup and have no issues with reset. If you want to be super safe, go 15 or 16lb. It’ll drop your double action pull a couple pounds. My 22’s have stock springs though as they all surprisingly have good pulls.

Also, my two 34’s are not completely reliable double action either. My k frames (an 18 and a 17) have never had an issue. I’m assuming it’s the coil spring vs leaf spring difference. Could be wrong though. It’s happened before…..

Well the gun has been completely reliable once I reamed the chambers, no light strikes or similar, so I don’t want to lose that.
Would a 14# N frame rebound spring work?

Rebound springs are the same for all of the frames.
