I had to have this one, regardless of price! Have any of you ever seen a Model 48 like this in nickel? It's a 48 no dash and appears unfired. I would welcome any of your comments. Thanks

box has "B" under finish....where should I look for the "N" on the left panel? I'll bet it has been refinished.

look for "N"

I know later guns were marked with an N stamped on the back of the cylinder & on the frame under the left (i think) grip . I'm not sure what time frame this was started though.

I've never seen a nickel Model 48, either.

Is that a ramp front sight? I'm used to the patridge on those.

That is a nice set up - I don't think I could pass on that one myself.

I'd guess refinish, but I think it looks great! You seem to like it a lot. Nothing else really matters, does it? ;)

If you like nickel, you've got to love that one as it has at least a mile of it! Nice looking gun and should give the fox squirrels all they want.

Ive never seen a nickle either but from the pic it looks clean to me. They are shooters. I would send for a letter to smith and see if it was nickled by them.

Here is a nickel 48 that lettered as original, it was a special order to H.H. Harris in Chicago. Factory nickel guns are very scarce.

If that is a factory nickle gun you scored. If it is aftermarket nickle it looks like they did a good job and didn't finish the trigger and hammer. A letter is in order.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll contact Smith to see what they know about it. Meanwhile I'll enjoy it!
