Just aquired a 38 from my neighbor. It is a model #49 38 with original grips and in 90 to 95% conditon. She has had it in a jewlery bag for the last 5 to 8 years so it is in great condition. the serial number is 902j81. Hopefully you guys with all the knowledge can tell me the age and if this is a desirable gun. thank you Larry

The model 49 is one of my favorites! Not everyone likes the humpbacks, but I love them. Is yours blue or nickel? How about posting a few pictures?

Humpback 49, 649 and its airweight version models 38 , 438 and 638 have the best of both worlds,
The non snag draw of the hammerless model 40 with the single action option of the model 36.

I own a nickel 49 from 1967 and it's one of my favorite EDC pieces. They were designed for up close and personal and to that end are one of the best. Fired from a coat pocket or a well aimed single action first shot. They carry so well IWB or on the belt that you almost forget they are there.
