I just purchased a used Model 52-2 and want to field strip for a good cleaning and oiling. I have removed the magazine and pulled the slide back to align the notch on the left side with the slide stop, but the slide stop does not want to pop out. I tried very gentle tapping on the right side of the stop with a small plastic hammer and still no good. Am I missing some trick ? Thanks

Walter;
This may be a stupid question but I have to ask.
You are aligning the slide notch with the pivot point of the stop ?
Not past that point to where you can actuate the safety to hold the slide open ?
It should just pop out with finger pressure.

Let me know.

If memory serves, it takes down pretty much the same as a Model 39-2, except that the bushing is screwed in with threads and to remove it, you push in the detent and then unscrew the bushing.

When you are removing the slide stop, remember to line up the cut in the slide with the axle or cross pin of the slide stop, not with the end of the slide stop which engages the slide.

Thank you gentlemen, I got the slide stop out. The takedown instructions I had weren't entirely clear and I was pulling the slide back too far.

Glad we could help.
If you have any other questions about the model 52 let us know.
I currently shoot two of them.
