I've owned a Model 52-2 in stainless finish for about 7 years and have been trying to research its origins yet have only been able to find references stating that the pistol was only offered in blued & nickel finishes. Wondered if anyone could shed some light on this? thanks

I'm not aware of, or have ever seen a Model 52-2 (or any Model 52 for that matter) in anything other than blue from the factory. I'm not saying that S&W never did one in nickel-doubtful however, but I'd be confident in saying that none were done in stainless steel.

Some of the treatments applied to guns would make you swear it is stainless and even an experienced eye has trouble distinguishing the difference. But, no 52’s were made in stainless and IF there was, it would be marked 652 since 6 is the stainless code of the model number.

Where did you find a reference to a nickel finish? I’m with everyone else, never heard of anything but blue. How are the markings on your model?
