Model 52 value. First model

I tried the search function but obtained approx 500 posts of various information.

I'm grabbing a Mdl 52 original DA/SA model. Serial number in the 50000 range.

It is in medium shape. Not perfect. A few small scratches, minor blue wear, has been shot, original grips. Looks like a used gun, but not ugly.

Does not have the slots for the weights.

I can't get photos yet.

What's it worth? And how many in the production?

Hello, you can e-mail me I have a great article on the model 52s.
The 52 no dash and dash one seem to lag behind in price since they had issues with the extractor. The price would be in the $750-$800.00 depending on how the bluing looks. Also there was no way to mount the weight on the no dash gun, only the -1 and -2 models allowed for that.

And how many in the production?

Approximately 3,500 no dash 52s produced from 1961-1963. There is a screw inside the frame which disables the double action feature and I've heard it's tough to get it set back to single action if you monkey with it. The 52-1 and 52-2 don't are single action only and are generally considered to have better triggers. The 52 no dash is known for having a nicer fit and finish.

The article smithfan4152 has is probably the 1963 Gun Digest article by Gil Hebard and its a great article. In it, Gil tests four Model 52s and he lists the serial numbers.....I've always thought it would be nice to find one of those four guns so check you serial number.
