I love the metal framed 9's. Everything from the 39-2 to the 908s. Being a collector as much as a shooter, I always kept them box stock. But the frustrating thing for me was that I couldn't shoot the damn things.
I'd usually hit with the first round or maybe two then I'd shoot low thereafter. It was so bad that I gave up on them. Then one day about three years ago a pal of mine let me shoot a Pachmeyer stocked 39-2. The difference was night and day and actually started me.
Yes it helps to have a really good trigger, but for me, rubber stocks make all the difference is grip consistancy. Even more so for the blocky double stack guns.
Today, my EDC gun is a 908S frame matched to a 910s slide for a really nice CCW gun and I can hit with it every round.
