Model 559 Information Request

I recently picked up a Model 559 from my LGS.
I have not found too much information on this model. I think that about 10,000 were made between 1980-83.
My gun is Nickel. Does anyone know how many nickel guns were produced?
What kind of interest is there for this gun.
What might be an approx. value for insurance purposes?
It is ANIB, with correct box, papers, tools and 2 mags.

Hello,
According to the Standard Catalog, there were 10,609 produced between 1980-83. There is no break down as to how many nickel ones. I've never personally encountered one in nickel, and haven't seen many 559's to begin with. Your's dates to about 1982. I can't help you with what it's worth, but as a suggestion, have a look on Gunbroker completed listings.

I have one in blue that I really like. It is in "shooter" grade and that is what it does best! It is the 9mm that gets shot most around here, accuracy is very good with ammo it likes. I have fired some european "machine gun only" ammo in it with no ill effects. Great Gun!

The Model 559 was introduced in 1980 with shipments starting in 1981. After production of 10609 units, 1,636 in nickel, the gun was discontinued in October 1982. At least that was what I was told.

Richard, your information is spot on correct and matches the Blue Book numbers for Model 559 production.

LG, That is one beautiful pistol. Might be a good idea to sit on it for a while. Blue book is around $650 but that does not mean it will not be worth more. Just an opinion. See if you can get a knowledgeable appraiser to look at it. If it were my pistol I would be valuing it at 1200-1500 due to it`s condition, completeness and scarcity of that 559 variation. But again, that`s just my opinion, at least for what a fair insurance value I would seek.
