It's the deceased brother that wants it ?
If so can he easily afford more ?
It's a whole can of worms

Yes the gun is worth more.
It would be nickel and about 1,000
A lot of family variables could dictate a fair price.

My family It would be given to him if she is financially stable enough to do so.

thanks for the info kind of what i thought.the bro that wants it is not a nice person and she can deff use the money.

IMHO, that B-I-L needs to triple his offer. I have turned down higher offers for mine.

Model numbers are located here.

We would need the serial number (located on the butt - remove the grips; and on the frame beneath the crane - open the cylinder) in order to determine date of manufacture. Markets vary, but in this area an M57 is about $1k in good condition; less if showing wear, more if pristine, box/papers, etc.

$1000 is about right but I’m wondering if that gun has some finish issues?

thanks folks i told her what was said will see were it goes.the gun showed light scratches in the nickel one small pit.the barrel and cyl look perfect i dont belive it was shoot much.

That's a 4 inch Model 57 and appears to have its original stocks, so that's rather desirable. It appears to have the factory nickel plated finish, so it's even more desirable. $400? I'd give you $500 and pay all the transfer and shipping fees and I don't even have interest in adding 41 Magnum to my revolver calibers! I'd say $900 for a quick sale, but in the retail world, $1000-$1200.

I paid $1200 OTD for my mint 4" nickel Model 57 a couple of years ago, and was happy to get it for that price. Mine is N834280 (1981), and the one that is owned by your widow friend, N6709xx, was manufactured in 1979-80. S&W N-frame revolvers continue to appreciate and will only get pricier in the next couple of years. The BIL is definitely trying to take advantage of the situation. That revolver, with original wood stocks, is easily worth $1200+...but considering he is family, perhaps sell it to him for $900. Good luck!

For what it's worth I paid $1,800 for the same gun box, papers, tools, presentation case in new condition. You can start deducting from there. From what I see $1,000.

My 57 no dash, 6” barrel, blue, display box that needs re flocked and spruced up externally. I haven’t got it lettered yet but its serial number puts it born in 1973.
I paid $1400 to the seller on the Forum, I think that was the price.
$400! Go pound salt, junior!
(I really have to get that box redone!)
