Unfortunately, no I do not have the original box. I purchased from the original owner many years ago. He had little interest in keeping the box. Regardless, I could not resist buying the gun.

I am the second owner. I seem to recall that the original owner told me that he ordered it that way. Have no idea if this is true or if S&W did special orders like this. It is so pretty that I left it that way.

The trigger is so smooth that I was sure it had been worked on by a professional 'Smith. The previous owner said it was stock. I just know that it the sweetest trigger on any gun that I own.

I also purchased a 7 1/2" Ruger Redhawk in .41 Magnum from the same guy in the same sale (I am a great fan of the .41 Magnum). It was manufactured in 1989 and came with a barrel with the scallops for rings and a scope. Never got the rings, but love the Ruger too. Trigger on that one is not nearly as nice. In fact, it is rather heavy.

Still another .41 that I own is an 'Old Model' Ruger Blackhawk, with 6 1/2" barrel that has been decked out for me by Gary Reeder. That handgun is beautiful and has taken Javelina and Pronghorn Antelope.

I guess I would ask what do you want out of it......if I told you I would offer 750 dollars how would that resonate? I would buy more than likely at that price.....at 1000 dollars, I would be looking to spend my money on something else.....but then again I already have a 57 and 58.

I'm seriously considering the layaway bin for one at my local dealer that is tagged at $999.99. It's a 4" gun, that is in as nice a condition as any I have ever seen. It comes in a Smith & Wesson presentation case and has target hammer and trigger. It's wearing Hogue's right now, but the smooth target grips are in the presentation case. S/N is N124XXX.

I've got it stuck away on "hold" for the weekend.

Normally I wouldn't be interested in a 57, but (1) I just bought a 58 a few weeks ago, and already have brass, bullets, and dies, and (2) it has a 4" barrel, which I'm a sucker for.

Any idea on a date for that one?

$1000 for the one described with the box is the going rate.

The OPs gun looks to have the .400" smooth trigger, not the .500 ribbed case-hardened target trigger. The hammer appears to be a .500" non-case-hardened hammer. Both these items are common on 629s, including the two I have.
