Model 57 ported and gold filled

Since this pic was taken I have removed the gold and she is a fine shooter but kinda load.

Say, would you mind telling me how you went about removing the gold inlay? I have a Model 29 that was engraved and inlaid with gold around 25 years ago. Now the gold is faded and worn away in spots so I'd like to remove it altogether.

I have one just like it without the ports and love it. Also have 44 magnums but I prefer the 41 for some reason.

The gold fill was the stuff that was popular in the 70's I took it out with some acetone and soft brush.

I've seen several mentions of acetone to remove the gold in engravings. What does acetone do to the bluing?

Same here; the fill is tastefully done and adds to the beauty; it's not over done. I'd like to know the SN range, too. Is it an "S" prefix? I've got one of those from 1968. Not gold filled or ported, but has a vented rib add-on.

And yeah, it's loud, even without the port job.
