I have a gentleman close to me who is selling his Model 57. It has the 8 3/8 barrel and has the presentation case. What is your opinion on this revolver? Hinge is broken. Seller is firm at $800

Maybe you should wait to see if you can find one without the tiny piece of fuzz on it!!!
Heck, if it's the caliber you're looking for and it seems mechanically good, bzzzzzzttt...Buy the gun!! I joke a little, but like the pros up above have suggested, I do think I would buy it also. This time of year is painful when you're out shopping for other people and you find out that even the gun credit card is getting heavy and you have to cut back on unnecessary items like gifts for the wife, etc.!!!
Good luck. Nice gun. If you have the resources and need (choke!), you won't be chastised by us for buying that piece of art.

Unless you HATE the 41 Magnum cartridge, you should already be the owner of that revolver.

I have had this one for 19 years so far

The long barrels with a nice BIG charge of H110 really launches the bullets at some nice velocities.

In today's market it is had to find any N-frame for under $1,000 unless it is a worn out shooter

The stainless one has been in my safe even longer

He must be giving a BIG discount for the broken hinge :D. Buy that bad boy, the price is really good for one in that condition, even without a presentation case for it. The hinge can be replaced easily enough. I'm not a big fan of the long barrel, but for that price I'd certainly add it to my collection. which includes a 6" M57 and a M58. The long barrel would be a great gun at the range, and very accurate.

I gave a lot more for my 6", and didn't even get the original stocks, much less a case for it.

We're all in agreement...buy it! Although I'm not a big fan of the long tube N-frames, $800 for a Model 57 with presentation case is a steal! The .41 Magnum round is fun to shoot. In the future, you could always use it as trade fodder for a revolver that better suits your fancy, and still be well ahead of the game price wise. About a year ago I paid $1200 for a 4" nickel Model 57 (no case) and was happy to have it! For now- buy it, shoot it, enjoy it!

By now we hope you have the 41 in your possession. I've been bitten by the 41 bug more than 20 times, and always looking for more. As has been stated, 800 is incredibly low. If you're not interested, buy it and post it here and make a few bucks. Or just call me with the contact info and I'll save you the trouble.

I love the 8 inchers and also the 41 mag. I have some of each but not a 41 8 incher.

I would gladly pay $1200 for such an opportunity.

The only negative on this revolver is the barrel length.

I think of 41mag handguns as something to carry with you when out and about in the woods or our mountains. I wouldn't think of it for sd carry regardless of barrel length.

The 8+" barrel disqualifies it as a carry gun for me (so would a 6+" barrel). That makes it a range toy.

That's a great price if you want a range toy, or want it to flip or sell.

I'd probably buy it at that price with the intention of flipping it.
