I dont own a 58 yet, but I shoot a friends the other week at some steel plates. I DID feel better armed with that gun than my 1911, it just felt more natural if that makes any sense. I want a 4 inch 58 in a bad way.....
QUOTE=Sportsterguy;136111897]Was going to do some major mods to my 6" no dash 57. 3" barrel, C&S Extreme duty sights (better than fiber optics for a SD weapon), round butt conversion till I realized I already had a 3" 657 and not nearly enough cash.
That 58 is a fightin machine and a beauty. Next to one of my 1911's my 58 or 657 would be the next handgun to bring into action loaded with 210 gr. SBSGD's. 870 is my main house sweeper but a .41 mag will get the job done fast. Thank God I've never shot anyone with the round but 40 deer would tell ya it's one heck of a cartridge if they could.
Sorry but can't help ya on the DOB and please post some pics when it's done. Know it's your weapon but would never trust a fiber optic sight except at the range. You may want to hard chrome that baby if you'll be using it roughly. Accurate Weaponry and Plating hard chromed my truck BHP of mine years ago and the finish was going strong when I sold it some 12 years later. DUMB move! Looks exactly like stainless and is a fantastic finish.
These are only suggestions and please do not take any offence as it's your revolver to do what YOU want to do with. Just relaying 35+ years of experience from the School of Hard Knocks

JMHO and good luck on the project. The .41 mag is my all time favorite caliber since 76! Will do everything a .44 mag will do with the right round.[/QUOTE]
