I want a model 29 set up exactly like the model 58.
Fixed sights, unshrouded rod, heavy barrel with no underlug.
That would be the perfect .44 for me.

Try the original 58 in 41 Magnum and I don't think you'll need a 44. It is cheaper than one made and marketed today, and it will do almost everything the 44 will without the tremendous recoil and muzzle blast. It is a delight with the 210gr SWCs and all you need with the full-power loadings. Try it-you'll like it!

Couldn't agree with you more. I own one and love the way it performs. I just ordered a holster for it so I can carry it some with the cooler weather. Holster should be here tomorrow.

That would be cool - or if they did this one, again, too... kinda' similar:

Yea... that one would work also.

I have nothing but respect for the .41.
Great shooter and WAY overlooked.
However I reload .44 and .45 acp... and dont want to reload another caliber. :D
And well... I have a love affair with the 44.
Load it down a touch and a lot of that blast and recoil goes away, or load it up and enjoy the beast to its fullest.

I agree a fixed sighted 44 Mag would be a good seller IMHO.

Why not a copy of the Thunder Ranch 44 Special in 44 Mag???

Actualy I do not see the need to make any N frame in 44 Special...

Why limit yourself... Make them all 44 Mags....

Agreed on making the M21 into an M29... it already has the full length cyl.
However I own and have owned both .44 magnums and .44 specials.
The Specials were usually lighter and better balanced, since they didnt need the weight to deal with the hotter magnum rounds.
Plus, its nice to have a gun dedicated to the round you fire.

Years ago in the early 90s I had two M58 (I'm a .41 nut). Gunsmith friend of mine was a .44 nut and swapped the cylinders/barrels between one M58 and M29. My new M29 framed .41 HB need to have the front sight higher (which he did built up) to match the adjustable sights. That perticuliar 4" bbl always shot 100 fps slower than my other 4" .41s. He got out of it a fixed sight .44 Mag (course he had to lower the front sight).
