I’m very much a novice at S&W revolvers but I’ve started a collection of 1966 N frames because I like ‘em and it’s my birth year. I have models 25, 27, 28, 29, 57 and 58. I shoot them all. A couple are in very nice condition and the rest are shooter grade guns.
My question is: what other models were available in in 1966 N frames? From what I can find, the model 24 ended that year and is rare to find. I need a 25 in 45LC as mine is .45 ACP. I know there were a couple of other esoteric chamberings. Was there still a model 21 or a 38/44? What should I be looking for? Will they all have the usual N frame S serial numbers?I want to get all of the calibers that I can still find ammo for. I don’t reload. Will also try to gradually upgrade the quality of my collection as I’m able.
Thanks for any helpful comments.

Technically available until 1966 were models 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26 although very spotty production (and RARE) after model #s were introduced in 1957/8. All model-marked guns as listed above are valued collectors items. In fact, I have a model marked 26-2 made in 1964 that I need to letter, due to Doc44 telling me it would letter. It will be the first model 26-2 found in the wild. Also, the newest edition of the Smith & Wesson "bible" (available on amazon) will educate you with everything you need to become an S&W expert!
