What would be a "fair" price for a blued Model 58 with a 4" barrel in "excellent" condition? I've always wanted one (I know, I've waited way too long) but don't necessarily have to have the box or "papers" (I'm not a collector, per se).

As I can see, your here in Ohio.
You can expect to pay on the top side $1000.00 to $1200.00. As always less is better.

A grand is about right, with box, papers, and tools....maybe a bit more. I see shooter grade guns going for 8 bills.

Yep. I guess that I will agree with the others. I been bought mine last year @ $1000. No box/accessories but it was one of the first 2000 manufactured. They are really great service revolvers and shoot a very nice cartridge! Best luck for your quest!

Just bought a 58 locally for $700. Bought new in the late '60's it had been carried a lot by a game biologist but fired less than a 100 rounds. The blueing is maybe 85% and the grips are roughed up a little, but you have to look real hard to see any hint of a cylinder turn ring. I was looking for a good shooter and that it is. I'm really happy with it.

Excellent condition, no box, N-prefix...may be able to find one in the mid-$800s... Prices are down from a couple of years ago...
