Looking to take my S&W 586 with a six in tube to the gunshow here in OKC this weekend. Mainly looking to trade, but I need some advice from you that are more knowledgable than I about fair trade value, or even a cash price. I know that the price would be contingent on what it's condition is, but anybody have input as to a general baseline idea? I was thinking in the $550 to $600 range, bu tI could be way off....

It was made in 1982 if the factory grips date is any inidaction, great blueing.

Thanks for the input. Wish I could get pictures on here, but I can't figure it out.

In my area you would be high and not sell it. I think it's more in the $450 to $500 range. Might be worth a little more if you had box, papers and tools.YMMV
BTW, dealers will probably offer in the $250-300 range.

Agree, the 6" go for less than the 4" versions, probably $450 or so to a private party seller.

Ok, thanks for the input. Have to see what they have, maybe find a Smith collector who needs one.

I recently sold a 686 to an individual for $450.00. It had 6-inch barrel and original target stocks. It was in very good condition.

For $550-600 from a private party, I'd expect the gun to be in like new condition with the original box. I think that price is more in line with what the gun dealers have as a list price, i.e., starting point for negotiating.

Around here $450 to $500 would be the going price range
