Called S&W they say a 1986/87 DOB and must be a dash # after it . THERE IS NOT they said I must be wrong.Went back and looked again no dash. Asking $499.99 Yes or No will not take less.

I would buy it without any question. I prefer the odler blued S&W revolvers and the 586 is a real fine revolver.

Thanks for the help is that what the going rate is ? or is it on the high side ?
Thanks Again

If you buy it you need to send it to Smith & Wesson for an upgrade. The firing pin bushings on that model were known to come out.

FWIW, the firing pin bushings didn't come out. What happened was that the fit of the pin vs the bushing was slightly too large - not in all cases, but in some. Primers would flow into the gap and lock up the cylinder.

Factory modified guns are stamped with an "M" in the crane near the model number. I had one just like yours in 1983 and sent it in for this service.

The 586 is a superior firearm and you'll be well served by yours.

I just bought a 586 a few months back here at a local gun show (SC.) Cost me $495. Mine may have been 95%+ condition. Great gun. Don't recal the serial but the original grips had a date of october '82. Hope this helps.

I am very fond of the 586 - have 4" and 6" in blue - both are no dash. I paid a little more for my 6" mint in the older two piece box and less for my 4" which is about 95%. Both are great shooters and handle all safe 357 loads with ease. Buy it if you like it!

Here is my Md 586-1 SN AVC6200 made in April 1987. I got it a few months ago for $475 OTD. No box or papers, just the gun.

586 is one of the best S&W revolvers made. Prices run $500 to $550 locally. I suggest you get it before someone else does.

That gun would fly off the shelf so fast in kali that it would make a sonic boom.....

I paid 500.00 for a 586-3 with a 6" barrel. I love the looks of the wood grips. The gun is a tack driver. Like others have said, buy it before some one else does.

Here's one I got so long ago I don't remember what I paid for it. But I do know I wouldn't take 500 for it.

If shooting one makes something come loose or fall out, this one shouldn't have firing pin U joints or grease pins!

Marine: Secure that 586 ASAP. Best 357 ever made. Handle all 357 loads and balances like a Python with a Smith K frame action.

What's not to like?

Thanks for the help put money down on it today.
They will let me paid for it in 90 days no interest (lay-a-way).Cool When I pick it up I will post pics.
