Model 59 date

Hello, My father bought a model 59 sometime in the late 70's early 80's Has always been a great service weapon and want to hold onto it .serial starts at A713XXX. I was wondering if there was a way to find the accurate age.

I have a Model 59 in my S&W Collection. SN A342> and is from 1977 (most accurate guess). Really have to look into the S&W book to be sure. BTW mine is BNIB never been fired as it sat in a safe wrapped in the paper and box just as it came from S&W.

According to the Standard Catalog your Model 59 dates to about 1981.
