What is the going rate for a 5944? Just saw one in nice shape without any extras with $429 on the tag and was pretty tempted.

They must not be very common at all, I have only seen them in pics, and even then very few, never have seen one myself.....

Yes. ISP used a the 127 grain +P+, I think, in their 5904s, so no worries.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Here's a pic of it. I love the gun. It's a great little shooter. I got it back in 92 I think it was. I haven't had a bit of trouble with it and found it to be accurate and consistent.

Kelly, does that lettering on the slide say it has the magazine disconnect removed?

No. The tan lettering you see there says "caution: refer to instruction manual". On the other side, the slide says "smith & Wesson, Springfield, ma USA" on the slide and above the trigger guard it has the serial number above 'mod 5944'.

I know I've seen pictures of a couple of 5944s with square trigger guards. Mine has night sights that came on it. I'm not sure the differences between the square or round trigger guard versions....
