Hope this is being posted in the right section
I need to find a 8 round magazine for a model 5946 in 9 mm
Seems everywhere I look there arent any specific magazines for that model.
Am I missing something , is there a cross refe for the magazine in another model ?
Thanks for any help or direction

Same magazines fit these S&W models: 59, 459, 659, 910, 910S, 915, 5903, 5904, 5906, 5923, 5924, 5926, 5943, 5944, 5946, 5903TSW, 5906TSW, 5943TSW & 5946TSW

Your 5946 uses a standard 15-rd magazine, compatible with the ones listed above. There are also 10-rd versions, 17-rd versions (by Mec-Gar, I believe), and possibly a 14 rounder from an older 59 series may work, as well, but don't hold me to that.

5946 is just a double action only version of the 5906. There are no single stack mags or mags less than 10 rounds for it. Your gun uses the same 17, 15, 14 and 10 round mags as to any other 59 series. It's the same gun with a different type of trigger

Is there a reason for wanting an 8 round mag? As others have said, the 10 round cripplemags were about the smallest capacity you could find. I suppose you could stuff a second follower in there like Shorty does and get a 10 rounder down to 8, but.......why? :D

LOL very simple the actual owner lives in NYC. They cant have over 8 rounds. Certain gunsmith are Modifying the 10 rounders and submitting an authorization However the cost is like $75.00 each I was trying to help since I thought that there might be some swap over.
Best part is YOU cant sell it unmodified and then you have to reapply to get a new permit , since your Permit only covers the weapon listed on it
Such crazyness
Thanks for all the input

How do I post a question on this forum.? Not just a reply. No button visable?
The question I would like to post is;
Does anybody know which Sneakey Pete (outside carry) holster model, will fit my
S & W 5946?
thanks in advance

I don't think they make them that big. :(

You need to go to the main page of the specific forum and the New Thread button will replace the Post Reply button.

And yes, a Sneakey Pete would be carryon sized and come with both a duty belt AND suspenders. Not too sneaky.

I'm glad to see that criminals will now spend $75 and several weeks to get their mags certified. Good to see that NY knows how to handle crime!
Modernrifle, I wanted to say the same thing, but you said it so much more eloquently. Obama's response to you would be the same as he mentioned the other night during a townhall meeting: "We won't see the results of this legislation right now, but years and years from now we will." He's right in one respect, the results will be no less violence, but less inexpensive magazines available for law abiding citizens and less rounds to defend yourself.
