Model 60 dash question

Good evening all,

I recently took a model 60-3 lady smith (BDExxxx) in on trade and have a few questions about it.
I came across an older thread here that gave a run down on the dash history for the 60 and noticed that the lady smiths were introduced in the -6 models. Im pretty sure it has the 1/8in wide front sight as well, which was a change in the -7. There was only a 2 year span between the 60-3(1988) and the 60-7(1990). The only thing I can think of is that the frame was "old" stock when they put this beauty together.

Could I be wrong? Is it possible the frame is heat treated? Could someone please look up the possible manufacture date for me?

I have attached some photos of the 60-3 stamp, as well as a side by side front blade comparison with my 60-7 (The -3 is on the left.)

It was born sometime between late '88 and mid '90.

I'm not really up on those, I know a lot more about the older stuff, but the catalog says the 60-7 came about in 1990 with "New sight width, heat treated package".

I think you are on target with the "old stock" frame, and it's probably not the heat treated package of 1990. The -4 and -5 were special/limited production changes, and the -6 Lady Smith carried the LDY prefix serial number. I guess Colt is not the only manufacturer that grabs into a parts bin to assemble a gun.

NIB 60-3 Lady SMith

I have in my possession a NIB model Model 60-3 Lady Smith that I purchased around 1990. As you can see from the picture, it has the "frosted" finish, the Dymondwood grips, and the Lady Smith logo on the side. The serial number starts with "BK". Also, if you read carefully under the Model 60 history in the Standard Catalog, you will see reference to these revolvers. I don't have the book with me right now, but I do believe they mention the frosted finish and the burgundy hard case they were shipped in. I hope this helps.

Just and FYI, here is a picture and description of the gun from the Standard Catalog. It doesn't say 60-3, but everyone I have personally seen is a 60-3.

She is a real beauty acco40! Thanks for taking the time to take pictures of her and posting them to the thread. I see that what I have is not that uncommon, which is totally fine. It would be pretty interesting to see how many other 60-3 Lady Smiths are like that.
