I have a model 60, 2 inch, with a bobbed hammer. I am looking for any input on Safariland model 6378 ALS holster for this model. I have one for my M&P 9c and since I retired from the PD, I am considering carrying the 60. Any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at the Blackhawk Speed Classic. Not alot of $ and holds a J-frame high and close. I also have a Galco Speed paddle. It comes off pretty easy if you need to take it off. The only problem I have with it is it's high enough, but it is not close. It sit's off the body for sure but not too bad. Oh, and grab some pocket holster too. At some point you will use it.

Thanks for your reply. I am new to the site and appreciate your help. Will check out your choices.

I had one of those for a while and found it to work well but it suffered from the same fate that all paddle holsters, that is, they hang out too far for me. Does Safariland still offer that one for the J frame? I'm thinking they discontinued that one for the J's...

I have never found a paddle holster that I would go to first, but I do find that here is a place and time.

Blackhawk Serpa is a good choice....no snaps or straps to fool with and the gun stays put. You can adjust it for just about any angle of carry....cross-draw as well. In paddle-retention dress, you simply can't yank it off. I am not a paddle holster fan, so you can obtain a belt slide, which is adjustable. The whole system can be changed as to angle and position of carry by moving 3 screws and from belt-slide to paddle if desired. Give that one a look. I use it for my 60, 649, 640 and even my toss-away small frames (Rossie M88 and M685). Anything j-frame-ish with the exposed ejector-rod will snap into the Serpa. They turn-up on e-bay and it sure beats the heck out of anything big and bulky. I even have one attached under the dash of my vehicle.
