Looking at picking up the first of many S&W revolvers. I have a member on another forum I frequent offering a Model 60 which looks to be in great shape but no box. All he can tell me is it is a model 60, nothing else. Serial number is R1851xx, can that tell me if it is a dash model? Also where can I find a value on it, it would be a trade against another handgun of mine. TIA

Should be a no dash. I have one about 7000 units earlier that I bought used in 1978.

Couple pics. IF it is that old it looks pretty clean. Worth $450?

Much more attractive with the wood grips. Might have to keep looking for a better trade. Thanks for the help.

I agree, with those big oversized Hogue rubber grips they aren't very concealable.
If the price was reasonable ($350) you could always find a nice set of wood.

I've been watching model 60s on Gun Broker for 6 months or so. The going price for noreserve low starting bids has been arround 400.00-425.00. The last nice one, pinned with box went for 410.00. But everyone is correct 350.00 would be a good deal with the rubber and all.

I went ahead and passed on this trade even though I was trading a plastic pistol against it I'd rather pony up some money to get the right gun. Thanks to all for the advice.

I picked one up this last winter on auction arms 99% pined, factory stocks, 1-7/8", 38spl, box, tools, manuals, $370.00...... keep looking, your next deal is around the corner
