I acquired this R200xxx S/N range Model 60. Please note the front sight. Was this a factory option?

I have a 60-3 and a pair of 60 no dash, all of them are the same as the one pictured. Not only is the sight blade different altogether, but also no rear adjustable on any of mine. None of mine have the fancy polish job on the cylinder either. I am far from an expert, but I think you have something special or one that has been upgraded.

If you felt like you wanted one with no adjustable sights or polished cylinder, I would be up for trading one of mine.

It is only marked Mod. 60.

No dashes. So do they normally not come with adjustable sights ?

It appears obvious to me the adjustable sights were a non factory addition. The black insert isn't unusual, there were kits where you could make them any color you wanted.

If this is the case, is the corresponding Shark Fin front sight also an aftermarket edition? I just did some research and it appears adjustable sights get the shark fin front?

Why the Shark Fin front sight?

It is a standard model 60 from about 1978, to which someone added a J frame adjustable rear sight, and either added a taller front sight blade to the original barrel or put a later model 60-1 barrel on. The latter would have required putting a groove onto the barrel for the pin.

As noted above, the insert is not factory, but I think it rates higher than a "bubba" job. :)

The front and rear sight were added. Not a bad job, but not factory. These two photos tell the story.

Huge rear sight screw…

Thank you. It shoots great and I'm happy with the job the gunsmith had done on this.
