I have 2 Model 60-1 Ashland target models, but they are serial numbers starting with ALU. The front insert probably isn't factory.I acquired this R200xxx S/N range Model 60. Please note the front sight. Was this a factory option?
It appears obvious to me the adjustable sights were a non factory addition. The black insert isn't unusual, there were kits where you could make them any color you wanted.

No they do not come with adjustable but looks to be a nice revolver . There is archived S&W thread of a Model 60 with Red Ramp and adjustable sightIt is only marked Mod. 60.
No dashes. So do they normally not come with adjustable sights ?
The front and rear sight were added. Not a bad job, but not factory. These two photos tell the story. It is a standard model 60 from about 1978, to which someone added a J frame adjustable rear sight, and either added a taller front sight blade to the original barrel or put a later model 60-1 barrel on. The latter would have required putting a groove onto the barrel for the pin.
As noted above, the insert is not factory, but I think it rates higher than a "bubba" job.![]()
