For Christmas last year I picked up a Model 60-7 Performance Center ET Comp with a 3” barrel, target sights, Badger grips, and a compensator ahead of the front sight. The serial number is PCQ0108. There were 144 in the PCQ serial range.

On my birthday this year I was watching the same revolver except it was built on the Model 60-4. The serial number was PCR004X. There were 181 in the PCR serial range for a total of 325 Model 60 PC ET Comps for Lew Horton in 1993.

The serial number details can be found on page 430 of the SCSW, 4th Edition.

Also on the catalog’s page 433 is the listing for Product Code 170029, which only defines the model as a 60-7.

I only have two other Model 60 ET Comp in my database. They are Model 60-7s with the PCQ serial number.

On page 443 in the catalog is a further explanation and a photo of the model – still only identified as a Model 60-7.

I find it most interesting that S&W would interchange models for such a limited run so I’m curious to know if you have one of these, what is the Model (60-4 or 60-7), and what is the serial number prefix (PCQ or PCR)? Thanks!

As an aside, thanks to Roy Jinks we know “E” is a factory identifier for a stainless steel “J” frame, and I’m guessing the “T” stands for target since a J-frame target model is the exception and not the rule. The F Comp is a Model 66, but I’ve only seen them identified as an F Comp – probably because the Model 66 is already a Target model so S&W doesn't need to add the T in the name.

Quick question: are you just interested in the target-sight models or other 3" Carry Comps? Happy to share what I have, but want it to be what you're lookin' for.
