Model 60 Question

I have a Model 60 s/n R322xxx. I am an expert shot with my duty weapon Model 5903 9mm. I was an expert with my Model 66 6". But I am a crappy shot with the Model 60. The trigger pull is to tight and I cannot see the front sight when I shoot. I have no confidence in it, so I am thinking about selling it. It is in very good shape. Do you think I would be able to get $350 - $400 for it? Also, is this model a Pre-1980?

I'd give you $400 shipped for it, you'd get at least that on gunsamerica.com or by listing it here in the classified ads. They're great little guns though, if you keep working at it; you'll find it'll make you an even better shot with your 5903 & M66. The front sight can be painted or you can have a 'smith put in a red-ramp insert to help aid in visibility, he could slick up the action a little for you too. If you really want to sell though, I'd ask for at least $400. I don't have "the book", but I know the R-prefix was on earlier guns. My R-prefix was from sometime in the mid-70's. There should be others by shortly with a little more experience than me that'll give you a little more info. Good luck either way, friend.

My Md. 60 is R93***, purchased for $67.00 in 73.

The Model 60's are great guns but require lots of practice to become proficient. If it were mine (I wish) I would keep it and spend time on the range. Initially I had the same problem w/my airweight J frame, but LOTS of practice did the trick.

If you have a set of stocks that fit your hands and put plastic model paint on the front sight, it may improve your ability to shoot it. You will find plenty of buyers should you decide to sell it at $350-400 too.
